MSU Students for Life Sends Spartans to D.C. to Participate in National March
January 24, 2013
EAST LANSING, MI -- MSU Students for Life today announced twenty members will travel to Washington, D.C. this weekend to attend the 40th Annual March for Life, a national rally of pro-life activists featuring national speakers and a March along the National Mall, ending at the U.S. Supreme Court.
“We are going to stand up and speak out on behalf of the silenced,” said Lisa Jankowski, President of MSU Students for Life.“More than 55,000,000 unborn children have unjustly perished since 1973 in America alone.”
MSU Students for Life will travel to the March for Life – scheduled for Friday, January 25 – with pro-life college students from across the state on a bus chartered by Students for Life of Michigan, a statewide organization committed to promoting a culture of life on college campuses across Michigan.
In addition to participating in the March for Life with thousands of pro-life activists, MSU Students for Life will attend the Students for Life of America National Conference, where they will participate in sessions on activism, training and education lead by national leaders.
The pro-life movement is making exceptional gains among the Millennial generation. Shortly before her resignation in 2012, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Nancy Keegan told Newsweek that there is a large “intensity gap” among young people on the subject of abortion. An internal poll by NARAL shows that 51% of pro-life young people see abortion as an important electoral
issue, while only 20% of pro-choice young people feel the same way.
MSU Students for Life is active group that meets regularly on campus. This past fall, they hosted an event with stars of the MTV series Teen Mom, which attracted over 500 students.
Students for Life of Michigan promotes a culture of life on college campuses in Michigan. Their mission is to end abortion by (1) recruiting and training students for pro-life leadership, (2) educating youth on life issues and pregnancy resources, and (3) networking students within their communities to strengthen their impact.

Conservative Author David Horowitz to Lecture at Michigan State University
December 6, 2012
EAST LANSING, MI -- Acclaimed conservative author and commentator David Horowitz will speak at Michigan State University on Thursday, December 6, at Room 339 Case Hall at 7:00 pm to address “Obama’s Catastrophe in the Middle East.” The event is open to the public.
Horowitz is a well-known author and thinker was one of the founders of the New Left in the 1960s and an editor of its largest magazine, Rampart. The murder of one of his friends by the Black Panther Party in the 1970’s led him to reevaluate his life’s work and change course. He is the author of numerous books including Destructive Generation, Radical Son, The Art of Political War, Unholy Alliance, The Professors, and Radicals, among many other works.
Horowitz is also the chairman and founder of the David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC) which is dedicated to the defense of free societies whose moral, cultural and economic foundations are under attack by leftist and Islamist enemies at home and abroad. The DHFC is supported by 100,000 contributors and publishes FrontpageMagazine.com, an online magazine featuring articles on “the war at home and abroad.”
On the Israeli-Hamas conflict, Horowitz has commented, “The fact is that people have been oppressed in this world for thousands of years, horribly oppressed. But never in the entire history of mankind has an oppressed people strapped bombs on its own children and sent them to blow themselves up and kill other children…That is sick. Gaza
is a death cult, and the death cult is created by Hamas.”
In his work with the Freedom Center, Horowitz has worked with students across the nation to defend the state of Israel from its enemies by sponsoring pro-Israel
“Walls of Truth” designed to debunk fallacious claims that Israel is an apartheid state which oppresses the Palestinians, by running ads in campus newspapers, and by speaking at colleges across the nation. The text of the Wall of Truth may be found at www.wall-of-truth.org.

MTV Reality Stars Catelynn and Tyler Speak at MSU
November 29, 2012
EAST LANSING, MI -- MSU Students for Life held an incredibly successful event this evening focused on the issue of adoption. Pro-life advocates Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra shared their experience with teen pregnancy. The young couple's story has been featured on MTV's popular "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant" reality television programs.
Over 530 college students gathered on a cold Thursday evening – just a week from final exams and the semester's end. Some eager attendees arrived hours early to guarantee a seat. The lecture hall reached a capacity crowd well in advance of the first speaker introduction.
"It has been amazing to know we [have] inspired others to choose adoption," said Tyler. Meanwhile, Catelynn "want[s] a big family" with "at least four kids."
Bethany Christian Services facilitated the fall campus tour. The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Central Michigan University and Grand Valley State University also served as hosts. Around 3,000 college students throughout the Great Lakes State alone were exposed to the pro-adoption message.
